Meet Our Leadership
Stephanie Schuckers, Ph.D., is the Bank of America Distinguished Professor in Computing and Informatics at UNC Charlotte. She serves as director of the Center for Identification Technology Research, a National Science Foundation Industry/University Cooperative Research Center. She is an entrepreneur and has testified before the U.S. Congress. She is an IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) Fellow, serves on the board of directors for the Biometrics Institute, and is president of the IEEE Biometrics Council. She has volunteered for numerous organizations, including the FIDO Alliance and the Identity Theft Resource Center.
George Banks, Ph.D., is professor of management in the Belk College of Business and co-directs the Center for Leadership Science. He is Chair of the board of directors for the Center for Open Science and editor-in-chief of The Leadership Quarterly. A 2022 Charlotte Business Journal’s 40 under 40 Award recipient, he has consulted with organizations such as the Missile Defense Agency, United States Patent and Trade Office and the U.S. Forest Service. He regularly volunteers providing training in the Charlotte community, including for the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce Emerging Business Leaders

Revolutionizing Health care with AI, the AI4Health Center is a collaboration of UNC Charlotte colleges leveraging AI technologies to inform personalized, data-driven, and precise health care decisions to improve patient outcomes and reduce costs.
TAIMingAI Center
The Center for Trustworthy AI Through Model Risk Management (TAIM) is multi-disciplinary team working to establish frameworks so the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and AI-based systems is safe, controlled and managed in all applications.
Center for Humane AI Studies
The Center for Humane AI Studies (CHAIS) is an interdisciplinary research group dedicated to exploring the implications of artificial intelligence through the lens of humanities and social science to explore how AI intersects with social crises.
Center for Leadership Science
The Center for Leadership Science (CLS) takes an interdisciplinary approach to researching and teaching leadership, and addresses the barriers and challenges that emerging leaders face in rising to leadership positions.
CIPHER
The Center for Computational Intelligence to Predict Health and Environmental Risks (CIPHER), focuses on genomics and computing technologies as applied to health, microbiology, biological and human diversity.

The Center for Applied Geographic Information Science (CAGIS) addresses pressing multi-scale urban and environmental issues through cutting-edge spatiotemporal analytics and innovation.
