Bridge Funding
We realize predicting and managing grant flows can be challenged, especially in the current funding environment. The Division of Research is receiving an increased number of bridge funding requests. Because of the complexity of the portfolio, the variety of situations, and limited funds, we need to work strategically and collaboratively.
Like with all of our programs, we endeavor to partner with the department and college. Once you have had these conversations to identify what might be possible from the department and/or college, the PI should work with the respective ADR/Dean to submit the request to dr-vc-avc@charlotte.edu with the subject line “Bridge Funding.”
Please include:
- A detailed budget with a justification.
- Total amount with the breakdown request from different source, explicitly stating the amount of request to the Division of Research.
- Please list for each of your current and near-term planned grant proposals: title, date submitted, anticipated timing of a decision (as much as you can) , score/rating/recommendation if you have it.
- A brief plan to transition requested funds to a new award.
- List active grants.
- If for personnel, provide the title and job duties/activities. Where will money for materials and supplies come from for them to do the work? Are there other activities (like teaching) that may function as a bridge?
- Is there money available in active grants or other sources to undertake the research?
